TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team defeated Bellarmine 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
Sarah Hatfield picked up her fourth goal of the season, unassisted off her own rebounded shot.
Annie Keele picked up the second collegiate goal of her career, assisted by
Gianna Antone.

How it Happened:
- The teams remained evenly matched through one quarter of play, with three total shots and just one goal from the Tigers. The Knights held a two-to-one penalty corner advantage in the opening period.
- Towson was awarded two penalty corners midway through the second quarter. On the second, Hatfield picked up the rebound off Madisyn Howard's blocked shot and put it in the cage on her second attempt.
- The stout Tiger defense held the Knights to two total shots, none on goal, in the first half of play.
- In the fifth minute of the third quarter, the Tigers received a penalty corner. Howard put a shot on goal, saved by Bellarmine. Gianna Antone picked up the deflected rebound and sent it home for a 2-0 lead.
- Just over five minutes into the final quarter of play, Anna Crump found Peyton Hobson for the score, cutting the Towson lead in half.
- Towson closed the game out with strong defense, holding the Knights to zero shots following the goal, giving the Tigers a 2-1 win.
Inside the Numbers:
- Hatfield picked up her fourth goal of the season in as many games. She is currently tied for fourth among Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) goal leaders. Through four games this season, she is one goal and three points short of her 2022 season totals.
- Keele recorded the second goal of her collegiate career in as many games. She has recorded at least one point in all four games this season and ranks second on the team with six points.
- The Tigers held a decisive shot on goal percentage advantage of 71.4% to 28.6%, powered by sturdy defense throughout the game.
