COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Towson women's soccer saw their four-game unbeaten streak to start the season snapped in a 1-0 loss at Maryland on Sunday afternoon.
Demi Pierre and
Jasmine Hamid each had two shots to lead the Tigers.
Towson (4-1-0) fell behind early in the second half and nearly found an equalizer in the 60
th minute. However, the header from
Maja Hansson was stopped at the goal line as Maryland (1-1-4) held off a late Tiger charge.

- Maryland got out on the front foot applying early pressure through the first ten minutes.
- The Terps would continue to apply pressure, but the Tiger defense continued to keep Maryland off the board.
- Nia Christopher nearly got a look on goal after a great through ball from Maja Hansson, but it was just out of her reach in the 21st minute.
- Jasmine Hamid got the first shot for the Tigers in the 30th minute, but her attempt sailed high.
- Both defenses were strong all half with both teams heading into halftime at 0-0.
- Towson would come out and apply pressure early in the second half. However, the Terrapins would score first in the 52nd minute off a counterattack to take a 1-0 lead.
- Maja Hansson nearly tied the game just minutes later. She had a header off a Reese Borden corner kick that was stopped at the goal line.
- Towson had a dangerous look in the 80th minute off a free kick but the Tigers could not cash in.
- The Tigers would continue to push forward but could not find the equalizer in a 1-0 loss at Maryland on Sunday.
