TOWSON, Md. – Derek Halford has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director, Athletics Facilities & Event Management
by the Towson University athletics department, effective January 17. In the role, he will manage 11 athletic facilities and coordinate events for Towson's 19 sports, including emergency action plans, visiting team guides and game day logistics.
Halford has been the manager of athletics facilities & event management since November 2021. After graduating from Towson in May 2019, he was hired as assistant manager of sport facilities & event management. He spent the previous two years student interning in the Towson athletics department.
"We have long understood that Towson Athletics is incredibly lucky to have Derek Halford on our team," Towson Director of Athletics
Steve Eigenbrot said. "Our national search to fill this position confirmed the fact that he is the right man for this job. Derek's work ethic and strong communication skills will continue to be difference makers for our department as we continue to improve our athletics facilities in support of our Towson Tigers."
While at Towson, Halford has been the NCAA site representative for 2021 NCAA D1 Women's Championship Weekend and served as tournament director for four Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) championships - volleyball, women's basketball, women's lacrosse and women's soccer - held at Towson during his tenure.

A Baltimore native, Halford and his wife, Courtney, reside in Parkville.
