NEWARK, Del. – Towson men's basketball led wire-to-wire in a 67-56 win against Delaware on Saturday to extend their win streak to four games.
Christian May poured in 23 points with
Dylan Williamson adding 16 in the win.
Towson (13-8, 6-2 CAA) held the Blue Hens (12-9, 4-4 CAA) to under 40 percent from the floor and outrebounded Delaware 44-31 in the win. The Tigers never trailed in the contest.
Key Stats:
- May led all scorers with 23 points going 7-13 from the floor with a team-high eight rebounds. Williamson scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half and help pace the Tigers late in the contest.
- Messiah Jones chipped in eight points in the win. Towson scored 12 second chance points off 15 offensive rebounds.
How It Happened:
- Towson started off the game strong with a back-to-back triples from Christian May. Delaware would respond with four straight before Messiah Jones hit an and one just before the media timeout.
- The Tigers would hit a scoreless spell over the next two minutes, but a bucket from Charles Thompson and Jones pushed the Tiger lead back to four.
- Both teams would battle back and forth with the Tigers going on a run to take a seven-point lead before the Blue Hens put together a run of their own to cut the Tiger lead to just three at the under four timeout.
- Christian May would take over late in the half hitting a corner three and banking home a buzzer beater to put the Tigers up 34-26 at the break.
- May led the way with 17 first half points and four rebounds. Towson scored 16 points in the paint.
- Both teams struggled from the floor early in the half, but the Tigers kept the lead with driving layups from Christian May and Nendah Tarke.
- The Towson defense would hold the Blue Hens scoreless over a three-minute stretch as they extended their lead to nine thanks to a Dylan Williamson driving layup.
- Williamson would be the catalyst late hitting a pull up jump shot to keep the Blue Hens at bay as the Tigers defeated Delaware 67-56 on Saturday.

- Charles Thompson continued to climb the all-time minutes chart, moving into fourth place and past Scooter Alexander with over 3,500 minutes played. He also moved into sole possession of fourth in career starts with 104.
