TOWSON, Md. – Towson men's basketball picked up a hard fought 67-64 win against UNCW on Saturday afternoon, thanks to a big three from
Tyler Tejada with less than a second left. The Tigers remain perfect at home with the win as four hit double figures.
Towson (8-7, 1-1 CAA) battled UNCW (9-5, 0-2 CAA) as there were 10 lead changes and 10 ties in the game.
Nendah Tarke led the Tigers with 15 points, scoring ten in the first half.
Key Stats:
- Tarke went 5-8 from the floor and 2-4 from three. Charles Thompson also reached double figures with 13 points and eight rebounds adding four assists, two steals and two blocks.
- Dylan Williamson and Christian May also reached double figures with 11 and 10 respectively.
- Tejada had nine points going 3-3 from three.
- Towson shot 47 percent from the floor and 50 percent (9-18) from three in the win.
How It Happened:
- UNCW would take an early lead, but the Tigers would answer with a 10-2 run that was capped with a Charles Thompson offensive rebound and one to give Towson a 15-11 lead with under 12 to go in the half.
- Towson would take their largest lead of the half after Tyler Tejada beat the buzzer with a three from deep.
- UNCW would go on a 7-0 run of their own to tie the game late in the half, but Christian May would beat the buzzer just before halftime to give Towson a 35-33 lead after 20 minutes.
- Nendah Tarke led the Tigers with 10 points with Charles Thompson adding nine points and six rebounds with three assists and two steals. Both teams shot over 45 percent from the floor with the Tigers shooting 45 percent from three.
- Towson would get out to a seven-point lead midway through the second half after five straight points from Nendah Tarke.
- However, the Seahawks would fight back to tie it just minutes later and take the lead with two minutes to go.
- Charles Thompson would put the Tigers back in front with a tough layup and Tyler Tejada would drill a three with 1:48 to go to put Towson back in front after UNCW retook the lead.
- With the game tied with 45 seconds to go, Towson would get an offensive rebound off a missed shot and call timeout with 10 seconds. Tyler Tejada provided the heroics with a corner three with less than a second to go to push Towson to a 67-64 win on Saturday.

- With his start today, Charles Thompson became the all-time leader in games played with 132 games.
- Thompson also passed Steffan Bunsavage for 20th on the all-time scoring list and is now four points shy of Terrance Jacobs in 19th.
- Head coach Pat Skerry recorded his 201st win at Towson and is now just one shy of tying Terry Truax for second on the Towson wins list.
