ELON, N.C. – The Towson University volleyball team faced Elon in the second match of a two-match series on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers defeated the Phoenix in straight sets at the Schar Center in Elon, N.C.
 
Victoria Barrett led all players in the match with 14 kills. Ylenia De Mango added 10.

• Towson – 18-4, 9-3 CAA

• Despite finishing with a lower hitting percentage, the Tiger offense totaled 51 kills to Elon's 33.

• Towson opened the first set on a 6-1 run to take an early lead.
• Elon tied the game at six with five-straight points.
• After a Towson point, Elon scored three-straight to take a 9-7 lead.
• Moments later, Towson scored six-straight points to take a 15-10 lead.
• At 21-16, Elon scored five of the next six points to pull within one.
• At 23 all, an Elon attacking error and Victoria Barrett kill sealed the first set for the Tigers.
• The second set opened with short rallies by both teams, leading to a 7-7 tie.
• Down by one, Towson scored four-straight points with a Sarah Callender kill and service ace to give the Tigers a 14-11 lead.
• In a 20-15 deficit, Elon scored four-straight points to pull within one.
• The Tigers got their first set point opportunity at 24-22.
• Elon scored the next point to pull within one before Barrett's kill capped off a second set win for the Tigers.
• Elon opened the third set with a 3-2 edge.
