LETHBRIDGE, Alberta – The Towson University men's basketball team played the Kent State Golden Flashes in the first day of the Western Slam. The Tigers (4-3) fell to the Golden Flashes (5-1) 65-54 on Thursday night.
 
Dylan Williamson finished with 21 points, five rebounds and two steals to lead the Tigers.

• Kent State shot 42.6% from the floor while Towson went 39.1%.
• Towson had 14 turnovers compared to only seven for the Golden Flashes.

• The Tigers opened the game with an 8-3 run getting a three-pointers from Tomiwa Sulaiman and Dylan Williamson.
• Kent State responded with a 17-3 run that spanned over ten minutes to take a nine-point advantage.
• A Nendah Tarke three-pointer sparked an 8-0 run to cut the deficit down to one with five minutes remaining in the first half.
• The Golden Flashes went on a 10-3 run, but Williamson ended the first half with a three-point play as the Tigers trailed 30-25 at halftime.
• The teams traded baskets to open the second half, then Kent State went on a 7-3 run to extend its lead.
• Towson would fight back with a 9-2 run sparked by a Rahdir Hicks three-pointer to trail by four with nine minutes left.
• The teams exchanged a pair of baskets, before the Golden Flashes closed the game with a 9-3 run as the Tigers fell 65-54.
