SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Towson softball picked up their first win of the season with a 10-1 win against South Carolina State before falling to USC Upstate 8-0 in six innings in the nightcap. The Tigers used a big third inning to pull away from the Bulldogs in game one.
Towson (1-3) put up five runs in the third inning and got four total RBIs from
Cara Bohner in the win. In all, six different Tigers drove in runs against South Carolina State.
GAME ONE: SOUTH CAROLINA STATE

How It Happened:
- South Carolina State would break through early with a run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
- Towson would quickly respond the next half inning. Elizabeth Yoskowitz hit a game-tying RBI double to score Taylor Broadbent who reached on a double. Cara Bohner would plate two on the very next at bat to give Towson a 3-1 lead.
- The Tigers would not stop there with Addie Ferguson hitting an RBI double and Alyssa Myint scoring one on an RBI single to give Towson a 5-1 advantage.
- The Bulldogs would threaten in the fourth, loading the bases. However, starter Amanda Medina worked out of the jam to keep the Tigers in front.
- Cara Bohner continued her big game with a leadoff solo home run in the fifth to make it 6-1 Tigers. Grace Franczyk would drive in Naila Neely who pinch ran for Addie Ferguson to extend the Tiger lead.
- Franczyk would come through once again in the sixth with a two-out RBI single to score Bohner and give Towson an 8-1 lead.
- Bohner and Kristin Toland would each drive in runs in the seventh to extend the lead, as the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 10-1.
GAME TWO: USC UPSTATE

- Elizabeth Yoskowitz started off with a single and would later advance to second on a stolen base, but she would be stranded on base.
- USC Upstate got on the board first with a solo home run in the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Spartans would add runs in fourth and fifth to take a 7-0 lead into the sixth.
- The Tigers would continue to battle but ultimately fell 8-0 in six innings in the nightcap.
On Deck:
- Tomorrow's game against South Carolina State has been canceled due to impending weather in the Spartanburg area. Towson will be back in action next weekend, February 16-18 at the Furman Invitational.
