GREENVILLE, S.C. – Towson softball put up a fight late against the Bison, but ultimately fell 7-3 on Friday to open the Furman Invitational. The Tigers used a big sixth inning to cut into the deficit, but the comeback fell short on Friday afternoon.
Towson (1-4) loaded the bases on three straight walks to open the inning and would get three straight RBI at bats including back-to-back singles from
Isabella Canesi and Ally
Hickman.

How It Happened:
- Lipscomb had the first chance of the game getting a runner to second in the second inning, but Maddie Gardner got out of the jam to keep it scoreless.
- Towson would threaten in their half of the third. Mackenzie Lake reached on an error and worked her way to third on a stolen base and wild pitch. However, she would be stranded on base.
- The Bison would score first getting a pair of runs off a two-RBI double in their half of the third to take the early lead.
- Towson would get their first hit of the game in the fifth inning off a single from Mackenzie Lake to put a pair on after an Isabella Canesi walk, but once again the Tigers would strand both on base.
- Lipscomb would add to their lead in the fifth putting up five more runs to take a 7-0 lead.
- The Tigers would break through in the sixth. After three straight walks loaded the bases, Kellie Zoerb would reach on a fielder's choice that allowed Cara Bohner to score. Isabella Canesi would follow up with an RBI single to plate Cori Jones and make it 7-2.
- Ally Hickman would come off the bench and lace a pinch-hit single that scored Zoerb to cut the deficit to just 7-3.
- The Tigers would threaten again in the seventh, but the comeback fell short as the Tigers fell 7-3 on Friday.
