HAMPTON, Va. – The Towson University women's basketball team took on the Hampton Lady Pirates on Friday night. The Tigers (15-9, 7-6 CAA) were victorious over the Lady Pirates (2-21, 2-11 CAA) 78-65.
Alexia Nelson led the way for the Black & Gold with 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Patricia Anumgba had 18 points on 6-of-12 (50%) shooting, going 4-of-6 (66.7%) from behind the arc.
Key Stats vs Hampton:
- Towson grabbed 52 rebounds, the second highest total this season.
- The Tigers had 30 points off the bench, tied for the second highest amount this season.
- Towson held the Lady Pirates to 18.2% (2-11) on three-pointers.
How It Happened vs Hampton:
- The teams traded early baskets, before the Tigers went on a 12-2 run capped off by an Alexia Nelson triple to lead 17-7.
- The teams went back-and-forth, then Towson closed out the quarter with an 8-0 run led by Patricia Anumgba's back-to-back three-pointers to lead 29-11.
- The Tigers opened the second quarter with a 6-1 run to lead by 23.
- The Lady Pirates trailed by 19 after a 6-2 run, but Towson went into halftime up 50-24 after a 13-6 run.
- Hampton started the third quarter with a 9-1 run to cut the deficit to 18.
- The Tigers countered with a 7-2 run capped off by a Nelson three-pointer to lead 58-35 with 3:54 left in the third.
- The Lady Pirates closed out the third quarter with a 9-3 run to trail 61-44.
- Towson grew its advantage back to 19 to open the fourth quarter, but a 5-0 run by Hampton cut the lead to 14.
- The Tigers responded with a 9-0 run capped off by a Semaya Turner layup to lead 74-51.
- The Lady Pirates tried to make a late comeback with a 14-5 run, but it wasn't enough as Towson won 78-65.

- Quinzia Fulmore finished with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
- The Tigers attempted a season-high 37 free throws while Hampton attempted 38 free throw attempts.
