Towson Softball Falls, 9-0 at George Washington on Tuesday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Towson softball dropped a 9-0 decision to George Washington on Tuesday afternoon. Four different Tigers recorded a hit in the contest with all four hits coming as singles.

Towson (11-15) got runners in scoring position in the second and fourth inning but could not cash in against the Revolutionaries (14-12).

Key Stats: How It Happened:
  • Cori Jones reached base in the first inning on a walk but would be left on base.
  • The Revolutionaries would get on the board first with a run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
  • That lead would extend to 7-0 after George Washington put up six more runs in the third.
  • The Tigers would have their best threat in the fourth inning. Ally Hickman led off with a single with Sydni Byers reaching on a fielder's choice. Byers would advance on a Grace Franczyk single.
  • Byers would get to third on a fly out to put runners on the corners. However, another fly out ended the threat.
  • George Washington would add two more in their half of the inning and hold off the Tigers in the fifth to defeat Towson 9-0 in five innings.
On Deck:
  • The Tigers continue the week back at Tiger Softball Stadium to take on George Mason on Wednesday, Mar. 20. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
