WILMINGTON, N.C. – Towson men's basketball battled in a back and forth contest with the Seahawks, but ultimately fell 75-64 on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers held a lead at halftime with both teams battling back and forth in the second half.
Towson (18-13, 11-7 CAA) was led by
Charles Thompson who recorded a 17-point, 14-rebound double double against the Seahawks.
Key Stats:
- Thompson went 7-11 from the floor for his 23rd career double double. Thompson also became the program leader in career starts with 114.
- Christian May was the only other Tiger to reach double figures with 11 points.
- Towson outrebounded UNCW 39-24 with 20 offensive rebounds. Both teams shot an identical 23-52 from the floor.
How It Happened:
- Towson came out and got the first bucket of the game on a Tyler Tejada pull up on the opening possession.
- After the Seahawks took a six-point lead, Christian May drilled a corner three to cut the deficit to 10-7 at the under 16 timeout. That would spark a 7-0 run over a four-minute span to give the Tigers an 11-10 lead. During the run the Tigers held the Seahawks to 0-7 from the floor.
- The Seahawks would take the lead after a 7-0 run of their own late in the half.
- However, Towson would respond with a three from Dylan Williamson and a free throw from Tyler Coleman right before the break to give Towson a 30-29 lead at halftime.
- Christian May led the Tigers with eight points at the break with Charles Thompson adding five and six rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded the Seahawks 22-14 with 12 offensive rebounds.
- Both teams came out firing in the second half, but a Christian May triple gave the Tigers a three-point lead at the under 16 timeout.
- UNCW would take the lead back with a three with under 10 minutes to go. Charles Thompson would cut it to one point on the next possession.
- The Seahawks would put together an 8-0 run to take a double-digit lead that forced a Towson timeout.
- Towson would get within four late, but the Tigers fell 75-64 against UNCW in the regular season finale.

- Charles Thompson became the all-time leader in career starts with 114. Thompson also is the program leader in career games played, now up to 148 games played in his five-year career.
- Thompson also passed Lawrence Hamm for 14th on the all-time scoring list on Saturday.
