Tigers Fall in Series Finale vs. Monmouth

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Towson University baseball team (4-19, 0-3 CAA) faced Monmouth (7-12, 3-0 CAA) in the final game of its first Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) series of 2024, falling 7-2 Sunday afternoon at ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood, N.J.
 
Through the first five innings, it remained a tightly contested game tied 1-1, with each team scoring on a ground ball. The Hawks added five runs on six hits in the bottom of the sixth, picking up five-consecutive hits in the frame. In the eighth, Josh Janove cut into the deficit with an RBI double to center field, making it a 6-2 game. Caufield's single down the first base line in the home half pushed the Monmouth lead to five. Towson went down in order in the ninth for a 7-2 final in favor of the home team.

  • Towson reliever Justin Rebok (0-2) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in 2.0 innings of work.
