INDIANAPOLIS – Towson University swimmer
Brian Benzing competed in preliminary heats of the 200-yard IM Thursday morning at the NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, placing 23
rd overall with a time of 1:42.82 at IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.
The senior broke his CAA all-time record of 1:43.13 from the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championships in February. This marks the third time this season Benzing has reset his CAA record, originally set at the 2023 CAA Championships.
Benzing's 50-breaststroke split was 28.37 seconds, the second-fastest among all 56 finishers.
On Friday, the senior will swim in the 100-yard breaststroke as the 15th overall seed in the race with a qualifying mark of 51.30. His final event comes Saturday as the 35
th seed in the 200-yard breaststroke with a seed time of 1:54.64.
The top-16 finishers in preliminary heats of each event advance to the evening's finals session.
