TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team (8-22, 3-6 CAA) hosted Northeastern (24-7, 7-2 CAA) Sunday afternoon, falling to the Huskies 9-4 in the series rubber match at John B. Schuerholz Park.
Northeastern held a three-run lead, two scored in the second and one in the third, through the first six innings of play. Towson started a two-out rally in the seventh inning, starting with an errant throw from short with the bases-loaded bringing in two.
Cole Stefano singled on the following at-bat to give Towson a 4-3 advantage. Northeastern posted six runs in the eighth, the final three on a bases-clearing double dropping in right field. The Tigers were held to one hit in the final two frames for a 9-4 final.
Key Stats:
- Towson reliever Justin Rebok (1-3) took the loss with four runs allowed, two earned, on three hits and two free passes issued. Rebok fanned one batter in the 2.1 inning outing.
- Northeastern reliever Charlie Walker (3-0) recorded the win, allowing four unearned runs on three hits and one walk issued in the 1.0 inning relief appearance.
How it Happened:
- In the top of the second inning with runners on second and third, a dropped fly ball in center field off the bat of Northeastern's Musacchia allowed both runs to score for a 2-0 lead.
- With the bases loaded in the top of the third, Goodman's fielder's choice ground-out brought in a third Northeastern run.
- Following the Northeastern run the next four full frames were scoreless. Towson challenged in the fourth but left two runners aboard.
- In the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded, an errant throw from short went over the second baseman's head, allowing two runs to score. Cole Stefano drove in a run on the following at-bat with a single to right field, and another scored on catcher's interference at the plate, giving the Tigers a 4-3 edge.
- With runners on the corners in the top of the eighth, Beckstein's sacrifice bunt tied the game at four. MacGregor's RBI single to center on the following at-bat gave the Huskies a one-run advantage. Three batters later, a bases-loaded walk extended their lead. Later in the frame, a bloop-double to right field cleared the bases for a 9-4 score in favor of the Huskies.
- Brian Heckelman led off the ninth with a double to right field but the next three Tigers went down in order for a 9-4 final for the Huskies.

In a new addition to the schedule, the Tigers will host the Georgetown Hoyas on Wednesday, April 10 at 3 p.m. at Schuerholz Park.
