TOWSON, Md. – Towson softball suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers got out to an early lead, but five unanswered runs by The Mount was the difference on Tuesday.

Towson (14-24) were led by Mackenzie Lake and Taylor Broadbent with Lake collecting three hits and Broadbent driving in both runs.

Key Stats:

• Lake finished the day 3-4 from the plate with three singles. Cara Bohner also had a multi-hit game going 2-3 with a run scored.
• Taylor Broadbent drove in two runs with one hit and walk in the loss.

How It Happened:

• Towson starter Maddie Gardner was on early with four strikeouts in the first two innings.
• The Tigers cashed in on a Mount St. Mary's error in the second. Cara Bohner led off with a single to right. She would advance after a Kristin Toland single and throwing error to put runners on the corners.
• Taylor Broadbent would then come up and single to center to score Bohner and give the Tigers the early lead.
• The Mountaineers would respond with a pair of runs in the third before Taylor Broadbent tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a bases loaded walk.
• However, Mount St. Mary's would score the next five runs over the fifth and sixth to take a 7-2 lead.
• That would be all the Mountaineers needed as Towson fell by that same score on Tuesday.

• The Tigers will continue their homestand tomorrow, Wednesday, Apr. 10 against UMBC. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. and will be the team's Strikeout Cancer game.
