TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team has announced that Gaia Montecchi will be joining the 2024 signing class, announced by head coach Jamie Peterson. Montecchi is Peterson' sixth signing of the 2024 class.
 
"We are excited to have first Italian on the squad. Gaia is a committed player and student that will help strengthen our lineup for years to come," said Peterson.
 
Montecchi comes to Towson from Florence, Italy. Her current Universal Tennis Rating is 8.05 and her Italian ranking is 2.7. Montecchi played in Serie B2 for her tennis club, Match Ball Firenze Country Club, from 2021 to 2023. She has played in the J200 in Florence, Salsomaggiore and Prato, while competing in the J300 in Santa Croce Sull'Arno and J500 in Milan.
