Towson Women’s Soccer Drops CAA Match to Hofstra

HEMSPTEAD, N.Y. – The Towson University women's soccer team continued CAA play against the Hofstra Pride. The Tigers (2-4-6, 0-2-1 CAA) fell t0 the Pride (4-2-4, 2-1-0 CAA) 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
 
Hofstra scored two early goals to take a 2-0 lead. The Pride added a third goal midway through the second half. Malin Bernt Schöps scored her third goal of the season to cut into the deficit, but the Tigers dropped the match 3-1.

  • The Pride had a shot got off the top of the crossbar in the sixth minute.  
  • Hofstra took the lead in the 17th minute on Ellie Gough's fourth goal of the season.
  • Hofstra added another goal in the 26th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Danielle Campbell had long-distance shot saved by Hofstra's keeper for a corner. On the ensuing corner kick, Kale'a Perry played in a cross to Maja Hansson, who had her header saved in the 51st minute.
  • In the 59th minute, Perry had a long-distance shot go just over the crossbar.
  • Hofstra added to its lead in the 60th minute to have a three-goal advantage.

  • Malin Bernt Schöps scored her third goal of the year off a corner in the 83rd minute. Rush played in a cross to Bernt Schöps, who headed the ball in at the far post.
  • Towson continued to battle against the Pride to the end, but the Tigers fell to Hofstra 3-1.
