Field Hockey Drops Sunday Game to Seahawks

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University Field Hockey Team closed out their first home weekend against the Wagner Seahawks. A third quarter goal from Wagner's Cami Valor was the difference as the Seahawks won 2-1.

Wagner – 1-2, 0-0 NEC
Key Stats:
  • Lydia Bennett provided Towson's goal via an assist from Olivia Miller.
  • Tessa Scheenstra had seven saves in the loss.
  • For Wagner, Charlotte Muller and Cami Valor each picked up their second goals of the season, and Saar van Dalen picked up the win with five saves.
How it Happened:
  • Towson won a corner early but had two shots knocked aside by Saar van Dalen.
  • Wagner had a breakaway chance late in the first, but Tessa Scheenstra turned it aside.
  • Three minutes into the second corner, Wagner received a penalty stroke, and Charlotte Muller put it away to open the scoring.
  • Towson would respond three minutes later as Olivia Miller found Lydia Bennett right in front of goal, and Bennett scored her first career goal to tie the game at one.
  • Wagner would score three minutes into the third quarter as well, as Cami Valor found the back of the net to put the Seahawks back in front.
  • Towson would win corners in the early and late minutes of the fourth quarter, but were unable to convert either time and the game finished 2-1 in favor of Wagner.
