LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Towson University tennis team continues its fall season with a trip to Lawrenceville for a Monday matchup against Rider University at 3:00 p.m.

Towson traveled to Virginia Tech for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regionals. Gaia Montecchi opened the first day of the tournament with two wins – one against Morgan State's Julia Jeffrey (6-4, 7-5) and one against Georgetown's Katie Garofolo-Ro (3-6, 6-2, 6-4). Montecchi's wins propelled her to the main draw, marking the first time two Tigers have earned spots in the draw.
In the main draw, sophomore Kiersten Tambe competed against Sofia Jane Thorne from Virginia Commonwealth. Tambe dropped in a 6-2, 6-0 decision. Montecchi battled against No. 9 seed Diya Challa from Maryland in two tight sets before falling 6-4, 6-2. In doubles action, Tambe and Chandre Boshoff fell 8-2 to William & Mary's Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson. In consolation play the next day, Montecchi dropped 6-4, 6-2 to Liberty's Maria Turchetto. Tambe fought through three sets against West Virginia's Zuzana Kudlackova, falling in a 10-5 tiebreaker after sets of 6-3 and 5-7.
