Field Hockey Loses to Georgetown

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson university field hockey team lost to Georgetown on Sunday by a score of 2-0.

Records:
Towson – 5-6
Georgetown – 3-8

Key Stats:
  • Tessa Scheenstra receives the loss allowing two goals with three saves.
  • For Georgetown: Elizabeth Rossotti and Ellie Johnson scored goals, and Colleen Maloney got an assist. Ella Fahey earns the shutout win with two saves.

How it Happened:
  • A scoreless first quarter saw the only chance of the period come from a Towson penalty corner, Dakotah Trader delivered for Anouk Westerink who shot wide.
  • Another Tiger corner early in the second quarter came to Megan Popp whose top of the circle shot forced the games first save from Ella Fahey.
  • Receiving possession from the corner, Georgetown quickly started a break down the right sideline and Colleen Maloney carried to the right corner of the goal before flipping a pass across goal that was knocked in by Elizabeth Rossotti to give Georgetown a 1-0 lead.
  • Three minutes later Towson turned the ball over in its own half and a quick Georgetown pass went to Ellie Johnson in the center of the circle. Her first lifted shot was swatted back by Tessa Scheenstra but the ball fell right back to Johnson whose second effort found the goal and made it 2-0 Georgetown entering halftime.
  • Towson controlled possession in the first few minutes out of halftime and a midfield pass into the circle was deflected and fell to Dakotah Trader who couldn't squeeze the ball past a sweeping Fahey.
  • The Tigers received multiple corners in the remainder of the third and fourth quarters but couldn't get another shot on target as Towson fell to Georgetown 2-0.
