WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Towson University field hockey team lost to American on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. by the score of 5-0.

- Tessa Scheenstra receives the loss allowing five goals with four saves.
- For American: Ninthe Botman, Jordan Reicher, Sophie Willemse, Elle Ridge and Lotti Sume scored goals, and Emilia Winkler had four assists. Teagan Harmon earned the shutout win with five saves.
How it Happened:
- American controlled possession early and in the third minute of the game Emilia Winkler carried the ball through the top of the circle to the byline and passed across the goal to Ninthe Botman who shot and scored to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
- The Eagles won a pair of successive corners quickly after play resumed, the second corner was delivered and passed across the circle then back to Lotti Sume whose shot was saved by the pads of Tessa Scheenstra. The rest of the first quarter passed without any other chances.
- As the second quarter started the ball came to Olivia Miller in the midfield who carried past multiple American defenders and into the circle, but her shot was saved by Eagles goalie Teagan Harmon.
- Midway through the second period a defensive free hit was threaded to Winkler in the midfield who carried to the top of the circle and passed to Jordan Reicher whose ball deflected off Scheenstra and into the goal to double American's lead.
- The Tigers got one last chance before the end of the half as a breakaway pass came to Ella Kaufman in the circle with one defender between her and the goal but her shot went over the bar as the half ended with American ahead 2-0.
- Early in the third, Bailey Masten intercepted a pass in American's half and passed to Arden Hunteman who was one-on-one with Harmon who swept out and made the save.
- With three minutes left in the period, American earned a corner and the delivery was laid off to Sophie Willemse who shot from the top of the circle and scored to make it 3-0.
- Early in the fourth, the Eagles received another corner, and the delivery came to Willemse who played a back post pass to Elle Ridge whose shot hit off the pads of Scheenstra and into the goal to push the lead to 4-0.
- A few minutes later another Eagles corner was delivered to Sume whose shot found the bottom corner of the goal to make it 5-0.
- Towson earned its first corner later in the period but could not close the deficit as the Tigers fell to the Eagles 5-0.
