Towson Earns a Point Against Northeastern

BOSTON – A Sophie Thibeault goal towards in the final minutes of the game allowed the Tigers to earn a key point in conference play. Towson now moves to 1-1-3 in conference play and sits on six points.

"Today's result was disappointing. We created chances, but lacked quality with our finishing. We are looking forward to being back home next weekend," said head coach Katherine Vettori.

  • The Tigers dominated possession 62-38 on the game.
  • Towson outshot the Huskies 18-8.
  • The Tigers 10 shots on goal were more than the Huskies total shots.
  • Towson had eight corners to one for Northeastern.
How It Happened:
  • Towson took the action to the Huskies early earning their first of eight corners just 79 seconds into the game.
  • The Tigers kept up the pressure to start the game with five shots, three on target, without the Huskies getting a shot towards the frame.
  • Northeastern got on the board in the 26th minute when a shot deflected off of a save and into the goal.
  • Towson would tie it up on a set piece when Emely Rubio put the ball across the box to Thibeault who put the ball back across the frame and into the goal to bring the game even at one.

  • Towson moves to 8-5-13 all-time against Northeastern. The Tigers 0-5-2 playing at Northeastern since 2012 and have not beaten the Huskies away from home since 2011.
  • Thibeault moves into the team lead with five goals on the season.

Next Game:
Towson will return home for its final home game of the season against Monmouth. The Tigers are currently tied for third in the North Division, three points behind the Hawks. The Hawks are on a three game winning streak but the Tigers have yet to lose at home. The game will start at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege.
