Towson Football Sends Off Seniors with Thrilling Comeback Win vs. Campbell

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University football team sent the seniors off in style as an 18-yard touchdown catch by Cleveland Charlton with 38 seconds left earned the Tigers a 35-31 comeback victory vs. Campbell on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Tigers took the opening kickoff but had to punt early.  A 44-yard pass from Sonny Sixkiller to Randall King set up the Camels in Towson territory, where the defense held from there.  Alex Crabb hit a 38-yard field goal to put the Camels up 3-0 5:15 into the game.
  • Towson responded, beginning with a Kemarrion Battles 15-yard run.  Short rushes by Andrew Indorf and Winston Watkins led the way, then Indorf found Lukkas Londono for a pass across the middle for his third touchdown catch of the year, putting Towson up 7-3 with 5:36 left in the first.
  • Campbell responded on the next drive, primarily using the running game to reach the Towson 33  Two passes later, the Camels went ahead on an 18-yard pass to Daniel Lopes to make it 10-7 Campbell just before the end of the first quarter.
  • Into the second quarter, Lakeem Rudolph intercepted a pass as Campbell had the ball on the Towson 46.  Four plays later, Naieem Kearney ran 14 yards up the middle for a Campbell touchdown and 17-7 lead with 11:01 to go in the first half.
  • After an exchange of drives, a 15-yard punt gave the ball to Towson on the Campbell 35.  A 21-yard pass to Zay Perkins set up a 12-yard touchdown pass to John Dunmore to make it 17-14 Campbell at 4:02 left in the second.
  • On third down on Campbell's next drive, Sixkiller was sacked by Towson to force a punt.  A 51-yard pass to Londono enabled Towson to reach inside the 10-yard line.  Facing third down, Indorf lasered a pass to Londono for the four-yard score and a 21-17 Towson lead in the final seconds of the first half.
  • On the opening drive of the second half, Campbell marched down the field on running plays.  A six-minute drive was finished by a Ethan Lawrence one-yard TD run to get Campbell back ahead 24-21.
  • Teams exchanged drives as Towson had a short field on the Campbell 42, but had a turnover on downs when a fake punt pass came up short.  Into the fourth quarter, Sixkiller converted a third down try to Randall King.  More passes and an eight-yard touchdown run by Lawrence pushed Campbell up 31-21 just over three minutes into the third.
  • The next series, on third and one, Winston Watkins looked to pass, finding a wide-open CJ Schaeffer for a 64-yard touchdown as Towson pulled to within one score at 31-28 with 10:26 to play.
  • The Tiger defense held and forced a punt. Towson took over the ball at its own 25-yard line with 6:05 left.  A 27-yard pass from Indorf to Dunmore gave the Tigers a first down into Campbell territory with the clock ticking down.  Facing a fourth and one, a Watkins tush push gave Towson a first down to continue.  Third and seven on the Campbell 18, a pass to the end zone to Cleveland Charlton was ruled incomplete, but overturned on replay.  Towson led 35-31 with 38 seconds left.  Towson held off Campbell on a final drive to win 35-31.

  • It is the second consecutive year where Towson won its final two games of the season.
