KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A furious comeback from a large first half deficit saw the Towson University men's basketball team cut the lead to eight but it wasn't enough as the Tigers finish second in the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational Adventure Bracket on Wednesday.
"This has been an incredible experience," head Coach
Pat Skerry said. "This has been the best midseason tournament we've been a part of from the venue, the organization and the hotel. We played three postseason teams on three consecutive days. Playing these teams will benefit us; they are all good enough to win our league."
KEY STATS
- UC San Diego scored 50 in the first half, on 63 percent shooting from the field and 61 percent from behind the arc on 11-for-18 shooting.
- Tyler Tejada put up a season high 27 points
- Dylan Williamson dropped in 20 on the day
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tritons jumped out to a 9-0 lead off three buckets from deep before the Tigers put together a 7-2 run to cut the UC San Diego lead to four.
- UC San Diego went on a 9-0 run that forced a Towson timeout. Williamson hit a three out of the huddle but after some back and forth, the Tritons went on their third 9-0 run of the first half to extend the lead to 20.
- Towson trailed by as much 26 in the first half but fought back to cut the lead to 19 to end the half.
- The Tigers cut the lead to eight in the second half with 10:19 remaining on the clock.
- The Tritons would not relent, pushing the lead back to double digits, and securing the win

- The 50 first half points were a season high for UC San Diego

- Towson had zero points off turnovers in the second half
