No more than three minutes later, another technical was issued to Hampton, this time for a player yelling at the Towson bench.
  • The unique start continued just after the under eight media time out when the scoreboard was no longer operational. As the staff was attempting to fix it, the under four media time out was issued leading to the remainder of the half being played without a media stoppage.
  • After the scoreboard went out, Hampton went on a 6-0 run which was immediately followed by a 9-1 run to cap a 15-3 run which ultimately allowed the Pirates to take a 37-31 lead into the locker room.
  • Hampton scored the first point of the second half before Towson went on a 7-0 run to bring the game even at 38.
  • There was significant back-and-forth in the next few minutes which Hampton was able to gain a six point lead. Towson responded with an 8-0 run to take a two-point lead.
  • After that point the game stood tied at 58 with just three minutes remaining.
  • Towson toughness prevailed for the Tigers' next two baskets with Chike Ndefo fighting in the lane to secure the first bucket and Caleb Embeya put Towson up 62-60 with an offensive board and put back from just outside the key.
  • On the net possession, Hampton drove down and made a driving layup. They were fouled and converted the free throw for a 63-62 lead.
  • Williamson got the ball on the next possession and drove to the key for a finger roll layup that did not fall but the Hampton player stepped out of bounds after grabbing the rebound and Towson had another shot.
  • Tejada received the ball on this play. He got to the free throw line extended before stepping back for his shot that hit off the front rim. The Pirates won 63-62.
