BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Towson University men's basketball team closed out its two-game road trip by taking on the Campbell Camels. The Tigers (19-10, 14-2 CAA) defeated the Camels (15-14, 10-6 CAA) 76-67 to clinch a share of the CAA Regular Season Title.
Christian May finished with a season-high 21 points on 7-of-10 (70%) shooting and going 5-of-7 (71.4%) from behind the arc.
Nendah Tarke finished with his first double-double of the season getting 16 points and a season-high ten rebounds.
Key Stats vs Campbell:
- The Tigers had 16 second chance points on nine offensive rebounds
- Towson shot 51% from the floor, including 57.1% in the second half.
- The Tigers held Campbell to 40.7% from the field and 30.8% in the second half, including 25% from behind the arc.
- The Tigers shot 52.6% from three which is the second highest mark this season.
How It Happened vs Campbell:
- Christian May scored Towson's first five points to give the Tigers an early edge, but the Camels responded with a 13-5 run to lead by five.
- Towson regained the lead after three different Tigers hit a three-pointer to lead 19-18 midway through the first half.
- The teams went back-and-forth trading baskets for the next ten minutes to be tied at 38 heading into halftime.
- The Tigers opened the second half with a 15-6 run to take a nine-point advantage.
- Campbell responded by scoring eight of the next ten points to cut their deficit down to three halfway through the second half.
- The Camels tied the score at 59 with 7:43 remaining, but May three-pointer and a Tyler Tejada mid-range jumper pushed the lead back to five.
- Campbell trimmed its deficit down to three with 2:46 left, then Nendah Tarke made a mid-range jumper to restore a five-point lead.
- The Tigers sealed the win with four late free throws to win 76-67 over Campbell and claim a share of the CAA regular season title.
