GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Towson University softball team lost 5-0 to UNC Greensboro to end the UNCG Invitational. The Tigers finish the tournament 1-2 and hold a 3-8 overall record heading into the home opener on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Key Stats:
- Alyssa Myint and Jenna Giattino recorded Towson's only 2 hits of the game.
- Briyana Wright, Kristin Toland, Taylor Broadbent and Isabella Canesi all drew walks.
- Amanda Medina started on the mound pitching 4.0 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs in the loss. Alyssa Bostley threw 2.0 innings of relief allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run.
- For UNCG: Rylie Williams hit a solo homerun and a 3-run homerun, Meredith Harwood recorded a hit and a walk, and Betsy Eatmon had an RBI, and Jorde Chartrand pitched a 7.0 inning shutout allowing only 1 hit with 9 strikeouts.
How it Happened:
- A walk, a single and a bunt put runners on second and third with one out for UNCG in the 1st, then Betsy Eatmon hit an RBI groundout to put the Spartans up 1-0 early.
- Both teams went down in order in the second inning.
- Isabella Canesi walked to lead off the 3rd inning and with one out Alyssa Myint singled and both runners advanced to second and third on the throw. But a flyout and groundout ended the inning.
- Amanda Medina picked up her first strikeout of the game in the third inning to highlight her second consecutive scoreless inning.
- Taylor Broadbent walked and stole second with two outs in the 4th inning, but the inning ended with Jorde Chartrand's fourth strikeout.
- A pair of singles around a fielder's choice put two on with two outs in the bottom of the 4th for Rylie Williams who hit a 3-run homerun to quadruple the Spartans lead.
- Chartrand struck out the side in the 5th inning, while Alyssa Bostley threw a scoreless inning of relief.
- Leading off the 6th inning, Briyana Wright walked, Jenna Giattino hit a pinch hit single and Kristin Toland walked to load the bases with zero outs. But Wright was thrown out at home and the next two batters struck out to end the inning.
- Williams hit her second homerun of the game in the bottom of the 6th to make it 5-0 Spartans.
- Towson went down in order in the 7th and UNCG won 5-0.
