TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team took a day trip to face the Mount Saint Mary's Mountaineers on Wednesday.
Olivia Trombley's strong 6.0 innings and a five-run 3
rd inning led Towson to a 5-1 win for its fourth straight victory.

Key Stats:
- Grace Franczyk hit 2-4 with a double and a two-run homerun.
- Isabella Canesi had a 2-3 day with a two-run double.
- Mackenzie Gorczyca hit a double and drew a walk.
- Alyssa Myint had a hit and a walk and scored a run.
- Olivia Trombley started on the mound and allowed just two hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 6.0 shutout innings to earn her third win of the season.
- Faith McCullough made her return from injury to pitch the 7th inning.
- For The Mount: Brianna Manni had two hits including an RBI double. Olivia Murphy pitched 3.1 innings scoreless innings out of the bullpen; Ellie Meier, Sophia Schmehl and Amaya Bowman each pitched a hitless inning. Kaya Hannon allowed three hits and five runs over 0.2 of an inning in the loss.
How it Happened:
- Ellie Meier got the start for The Mount and Olivia Trombley started on the mound for Towson, both pitchers threw 1-2-3 innings in the first.
- Sophia Schmehl and Trombley each worked around a leadoff walk to pitch a scoreless second as well.
- A pair of walks put two on with one out for Towson in the top of the 3rd, Alyssa Myint singled but Mackenzie Gorczyca was thrown out at home for the second out. Then a wild pitch brought home the first run of the game, before Isabella Canesi hit a two-run double and was followed up by a two-run homerun by Grace Franczyk to cap off a five-run two-out rally that saw Towson take a 5-0 lead.
- Trombley sent the Mount down in order in the home half of the inning.
- A pair of two-out singles and a passed ball put runners on second and third in the top of the 4th, but Olivia Murphy retired Alyssa Myint to end the inning.
- Trombley hit the leadoff batter in the bottom of the 4th but then recorded three straight outs to keep the Mountaineers off the board.
- Murphy pitched around a two-out double by Grace Franczyk to keep Towson's run total at five after the 5th.
- Brianna Manni broke up Trombley's no hit bid with a leadoff single in the bottom of the 5th and Lia Festa hit a one-out single to put two on for the Mount. But Trombley struck out the next batter and ended the inning with a groundout.
- Gorczyca hit a one-out double in the top of the 6th but couldn't come around to score and it remained 5-0 Towson entering the bottom of the 6th.
- Trombley capped off her third 1-2-3 inning of the game with a strikeout in the 6th.
- Amaya Bowman entered out of the bullpen for Mount Saint Mary's and worked around a leadoff walk to keep the Mountaineers deficit at five.
- Faith McCullough made her season debut replacing Trombley in the bottom of the 7th, a leadoff walk and a Manni RBI-double put the Mountaineers on the board and made it 5-1. But a flyout turned into a double play when Manni tagged up early before a flyout to foul territory sealed a 5-1 Towson victory.

Towson hosts it's second home conference series of the season this weekend as the Tigers welcome the current Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) leader Campbell with the first game on Friday set to begin at 2 p.m.
