TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team began a three game Coastal Athletic Association series vs the Campbell Fighting Camels on Friday. A back-and-forth game saw the Camels defeat Towson by a score of 10-8.

Towson – 12-14, 3-4 CAA
Campbell – 21-7, 7-0 CAA
 
Key Stats:

• Alyssa Myint hit 2-4 with a double and two RBI's.
• Isabella Canesi hit a two-run single.
• Kristin Toland batted 3-3 with an RBI.
• Talyor Broadbent recorded two hits and an RBI.
• Briyana Wright hit a triple and a double.
• Cara Bohner had an RBI and a pair of walks.
• Amanda Medina started on the mound and pitched 5.0 innings allowing five hits and eight runs and did not factor in the decision.
• Alyssa Bostley allowed one hit and two runs (one earned) over 1.1 innings out of the bullpen in the loss.
• For Campbell: Madison Ford, Amber Desena, Allyiah Swiney, Haley Krebs and Cadan Brinkman all recorded at least on hit and one RBI. Hannah Leierer got the start and allowed four hits and 3 runs over 4.0 innings. Cassiti Baroni pitched 3.0 innings allowing three hits and one run out of the bullpen to earn the win.

 
How it Happened:

•  Amanda Medina started for Towson and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 1^st.
• Briyana Wright hit a leadoff triple off Campbell starter Hannah Leierer and scored from a Cara Bohner groundout to give Towson the 1-0 lead early.
• Medina walked the first two batters in the top of the 2^nd and the next batter bunted them over. A groundout, a Haley Krebs single and a Cadan Brinkman triple each scored a run to push the Camels ahead 3-1.
• Grace franczyk walked and Kristin Toland singled to lead off the bottom of the 2^nd, they were bunted over to bring up Alyssa Myint who hit a two-run double to tie the game 3-3.
• An error allowed the first batter to reach in the top of the 3^rd, and a wild pitch and a groundout allowed the run to score to make it 4-3 and return the lead to Campbell.
• Bohner drew a one-out walk in the 3^rd but Isabella Canesi lined into a double play to end the inning.
• Medina sent the side down in order in the 4^th.
• The bottom of the 4^th started with a Franczyk walk and a Toland single, but Leierer retired the next three batters to end the inning.
• Brinkman hit a leadoff single in the top of the 5^th and a walk put runners on first and second with one out. Madison Ford hit an RBI single to double the Camel's lead. A fielder's choice, sacrifice fly and Allyiah Swiney triple brought in three more runs to give Campbell an 8-3 lead.
• Wright led off the home half with a double and the next batter Taylor Broadbent sent her home with an RBI single. After Bohner walked and a wild pitch advanced the runners, Isabella Canesi hit a two-run single to cut the deficit to two. Two batters later, Toland hit an RBI double, and a fielder's choice brought home the tying run and it was 8-8 after five innings.
• Alyssa Bostley entered for Medina in the 6^th and sent the Camels down in order.
• Broadbent hit a one-out single in the bottom half of the inning but Cassiti Baroni retired the next two batters to keep Towson from taking the lead.
• A Tyra Parker leadoff single and a hit-by-pitch put runners on first and second with one out. The runners attempted a double steal and Addie Ferguson's throw to third got by Wright and allowed Parker to score the go-ahead run. Another single and a fielder's choice loaded the bases with two outs for Krebs who drew an RBI walk to make it 10-8.
• Towson put two runners on with two outs but Baroni closed out the game with a lineout to secure a 10-8 Campbell win.
