TOWSON, Md – The Towson University softball team played the first of a three-game series against Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) foes North Carolina A&T. An eleven run 2nd inning proved the difference as Towson defeated the Aggies 11-2 to improve to .500 both in CAA play and overall.

North Carolina A&T – 7-24, 0-10 CAA
Key Stats:
- The eleven-run inning was the most runs scored in an inning by Towson since March 1, 2016.
- Cara Bohner increased her on-base streak to 17 games.
- Kristin Toland and Alyssa Myint had three RBI's each, Madyson Peters had two.
- Amanda Medina got the start for Towson and pitched 5.0 innings allowing three hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts to earn the win.
- Aaliyah Williams started on the mound for the Aggies and picks up the loss after pitching 1.2 innings and allowing four hits and eleven runs with only two earned runs along with three walks and four strikeouts. Lauren Hardy pitched 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen allowing only two hits.
How it happened:
- The Aggies struck first in the bottom of the first as a leadoff walk, bunt single, and sacrifice bunt put two in scoring position for Ayanna Mears who hit a two-run double to give an early 2-0 lead to North Carolina A&T.
- Isabella Canesi drew a one-out walk in the top of the second and Madyson Peters hit a two-out RBI double to cut the lead in half. A pair of Aggie errors and an infield single scored the tying run and loaded the bases. Cara Bohner drew an RBI walk to give Towson the lead. Then Kristin Toland cleared the bases to make it 6-2 and Grace Franczyk hit an RBI single to push the score to 7-2. Two batters later, another error and a passed ball brought two more runs home before Alyssa Myint capped off the eleven run inning with a two-run single. 15 Tiger batters came to the plate in the inning and turned a two-run deficit into a nine-run lead.
- Amanda Medina only faced seven total batters in the 3rd and 4th innings.
- The Aggies Lauren Hardy saw only eight total batters while also pitching scoreless 3rd and 4th innings.
- A bunt single was Medina's only blemish in the bottom of the 5th as the sophomore sealed Towson's 11-2 victory after five innings to bring the Tigers back to .500.
