How it Happened
  • Towson drew a couple of free passes in the bottom half of the first.  With one out in the first pitch of his at bat, Taye Robinson crushed the ball over the left field fence for a three-run home run and a 3-0 Towson lead.
  • The Tigers manufactured a run in the next inning after a single and walk, followed by a sacrifice bunt.  Jordan Peyton brought in a run on an RBI ground out.  Towson added another as a runner was caught in a rundown between first and second, but Casey Bishop scored from third to give Towson a 5-0 lead through two.
  • Holy Cross drew four consecutive walks with one out in the top of the fourth, following with an RBI fielder's choice and a Ryan Grundy RBI single to left.  A passed ball added another as Towson lead 5-4 after three-and-a-half.
  • Towson again rallied in the bottom of the fifth.  With a man on and no out, Brett Ahalt roped a double to left field, then Max D'Alessandro brought in a run on an RBI groundout.  Next batter, Robinson came through with a line drive single to left-center for an RBI.  Towson led 7-4 after five.
  • Holy Cross got two runners in scoring position with one out, bringing them in on a sacrifice fly and a throwing error to pull within one at 7-6 Towson in the top of the seventh.
  • Holy Cross threatened with two runners on in the top of the ninth, but Brett Seils induced a ground out to end the inning and secure Towson's 7-6 lead.
