TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team began its Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) schedule with the first of a 3-game home set against Stony Brook. A pair of homeruns and a complete game from
Amanda Medina led Towson to a 6-2 win.

Key Stats:
- Briyana Wright hit a 3-run homerun and drew a walk.
- Grace Franczyk hit her first homerun of the season and drew a walk.
- Isabella Canesi hit 3-3 with an RBI.
- Cara Bohner had a 2-4 day.
- Madyson Peters and Alyssa Myint both recorded hits.
- Amanda Medina started on the mound and pitched the first complete game of the season for the Tigers. Medina allowed 5 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) with 6 walks and 2 strikeouts over 7.0 innings and earned the win.
- For Stony Brook: Maddie Stepski hit 1-2 with an RBI, Emma Scheitinger had 2 hits, Gabrielle Maday received the loss allowing 7 hits and 5 earned runs over 2.1 innings. Jordyn Frey allowed only 2 hits and no runs over 3.2 innings of relief.
How it Happened:
- Stony Brook got on the board early when Marissa Thalassinos hit a 1-out double and later scored from a Maddie Stepski single up the middle to put the Seawolves up 1-0.
- In the bottom of the inning, Cara Bohner and Madyson Peters hit back-to-back singles and were followed up by back-to-back homeruns. A 3-run homer off the right center field scoreboard from Briyana Wright preceding Grace Franczyk's first homerun of the season to put Towson ahead 4-1 after the 1st.
- Amanda Medina pitched consecutive scoreless innings in the 2nd and 3rd.
- In the bottom of the 3rd, a pair of walks led off the inning and Isabella Canesi singled to score Wright and add an insurance run. Canesi later scored from an error to make it 6-1 Towson.
- Medina pitched around a 1-out single in the 4th to post her third straight scoreless inning.
- Stepski walked to lead off the top of the 5th and scored after an outfield error to get a run back and make it 6-2.
- Canesi recorded her third hit of the game in the bottom of the 5th, but Jordyn Frey struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
- Medina allowed only one more hit in the 6th and 7th to cap off her first complete game of the season and Towson won 6-2.
