TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University Softball team played the final game of its first Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) series against Stony Brook on Sunday, March 9 at Tiger Softball Stadium. The Tigers built a 6-run lead in the first four innings before eventually falling to the Seawolves 8-7.

- Grace Franczyk hit 2-3 with 3 RBIs.
- Madyson Peters hit 2-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs.
- Cara Bohner hit a 2-RBI single.
- Alyssa Myint had 2 hits.
- Briyana Wright and Elizabeth Yoskowitz also recorded hits.
- Amanda Medina started on the mound and pitched 6.0 innings allowing 12 hits and 5 earned runs, Cadence Williams receives the loss allowing 3 hits and 3 runs (2 earned) in 0.1 of an inning.
- For Stony Brook: Emma Scheitinger and Maddy Stepski had 3 hits apiece, Naiah Ackerman had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Alyssa Costello, Kyra McFarland, and Marissa Thalassinos all had multiple hits. Maddie Male started on the bump and allowed 5 hits and 5 runs over 2.1 innings, Gabrielle Maday earns the win after throwing 3.1 perfect innings out of the bullpen.
How it Happened:
- After a quiet first inning from both sides, Emma Scheitinger hit a 1-out single in the top of the 2nd and stole second base before scoring from a Emily Reinstein single to put Stony Brook up 1-0.
- Briyana Wright hit a leadoff single in the bottom of the inning and advanced on a wild pitch before being hit home by Grace Franczyk who was doubled home by Madyson Peters to give the 2-1 lead to Towson.
- In the bottom of the 3rd, a pair of walks and an error loaded the bases and Franczyk capitalized with a 2-run single and Peters followed up with an RBI single of her own to make it 5-1 Tigers after 3 innings.
- Towson continued to add to its lead in the 4th inning, a pair of leadoff singles lead to runners on second and third with two outs for Cara Bohner who hit a 2-run single to go up 7-1 heading into the 5th inning.
- Ackerman hit a leadoff triple in the 5th and was knocked home by a Stepski single. Stepski scored later in the inning from a Scheitinger triple to cut Towson's lead to 7-3.
- Gabrielle Maday sent Towson down in order in the bottom of the 5th.
- In the top of the 6th, Kyra McFarland hit a 2-out single up the middle of the infield, the next batter Ackerman hit a 2-run homerun to left center to cut the Tigers lead in half.
- Maday pitched another 1-2-3 inning to keep the score at 7-5 Towson heading into the 7th inning.
- A single and a hit by pitch put runners on first and second with 1 out in the 7th for the Seawolves. Marissa Thalassinos and McFarland hit back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game at 7. Olivia Trombley entered to pitch, and an error allowed Ackerman to reach and load the bases. Trombley struck out Alyssa Costello, but Stepski reached on another error to put Stony Brook ahead 8-7.
- Maday pitched her third consecutive perfect inning in the bottom of the 7th to earn the win and defeat Towson 8-7.
