TOWSON, Md – The Towson University softball team played a non-conference game on Tuesday against the Delaware State Hornets. A three-run 2
nd inning fueled by three Towson errors proved the difference as the Tigers fell to the Hornets by a score of 3-1.

Key Stats:
- Towson racked up eight hits in the game including two hits from Cara Bohner.
- Delaware State's Rhyannon Stanley picks up her fourth win of the season after pitching 6.2 innings and allowing eight hits and one unearned run with two walks and a pair of strikeouts.
- Kristin White got the final out of the game to earn her third save of the season.
- Alyssa Bostley receives the loss after pitching all 7.0 innings and allowing only two hits and three unearned runs with two walks and three strikeouts.
How it happened:
- Kristin Toland recorded the first hit of the game with a two-out double in the bottom of the 1st, but it was a scoreless 1st inning for both sides.
- The Hornets Emma Crowe led off the top of the second with a single. The next batter, Karly Cain, bunted and both runners were safe after a throwing error. A second consecutive bunt brought a second consecutive Towson error that allowed Crowe to score to make it 1-0 Hornets. After a stolen base put runners on second and third, the next batter hit a groundball that was mishandled in a third Towson error and allowed two more runs to score for Delaware State who took a 3-0 lead in the inning.
- The leadoff batter reached for Delaware State in the top of the 3rd as well and advanced to second on a groundout. With one out Crowe lined out to Isabella Canesi in center field who doubled up the runner at second to end the inning.
- Towson couldn't get any runs back in the bottom of the 3rd, and only six total batters came to the plate in the 4th inning.
- Bostley sent Delaware State down in order for the second straight inning in the top of the 5th.
- Addie Ferguson drew a leadoff walk in the home half of the 5th, and Mackenzie Gorczyca reached on an error to put two runners on. With two outs Cara Bohner singled to left to score Gorczyca and make it 3-1.
- The 3-1 score would hold into the bottom of the 7th.
- Gorczyca hit a leadoff single in the 7th and Bohner hit a two-out single to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. But Toland popped out to end the game win Delaware State winning 3-1.

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow Wednesday, April 2 for another midweek game against Morgan State. The game is currently scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time.
