How It Happened:
  • Play started back-and-forth in the early minutes as Ben Kieu made four saves in the first six minutes for Hampton, countered by a couple of caused turnovers by the Towson defense.  Towson opened the flood gates with six goals in a span of 3:03, beginning with three in less than a minute: Ronan Fitzpatrick scored back-to-back goals, then Mikey Weisshaar added another off a faceoff win.  Shortly after, Dan Reilly got free for his first career goal, then Towson added two more quickly from Weisshaar and Chuck Matusek for a 6-0 lead with 5:39 left in the first.  Towson's defense locked down the rest of the quarter to hold the six-goal advantage.
  • Matt Nilan entered in goal as Towson's reserves peppered the goal.  Michael Katz scored back-to-back as Towson continued the run.  The Tigers added to the run with scores from Matt Burnam and Connor Slein to complete the 10-0 run with 8:16 left in the second.
  • Hampton got on the board with a goal from Sebastian West with 7:44 left in the second.  Towson continued the offensive dominance, adding a Bode Maurer score and two more Katz goals as the home team led 13-1 at the half.
  • Quickly into the third, Ben Ellis hit his shot 10 seconds into the period.  Following a Hampton goal, Maurer added another off a Myles Quandt faceoff win for a 15-2 Towson lead.
  • Towson kept control, slowing adding to its lead.  Maurer's earlier goal began an 8-0 run through the remainder of the quarter, including the first goal of the season for Brody Morgan, to lead 22-2 after three.
  • With Ashby Shepherd in goal, Towson used the shot clock into the fourth quarter.  Hampton scored the first goal of the fourth from Reed Shaw.  The Tigers scored the final three, two more from Burnam and the first of the season for Andrew Goldt, to take the win 25-3.
Inside the Numbers:
  • With two goals today, Mikey Weisshaar moves into the top-10 in Towson history in career goals, standing tenth with 93.  He surpasses each Ryan Drenner (2014-17) and Brad Reppert (1998, 2000-02), who each had 92 career goals.
  • Five different Tigers had their first career collegiate goal today: Ben Ellis, Andrew Goldt, Michael Katz, Brody Morgan and Dan Reilly.

  • Towson's 78 shots today is just four off the program single game record.  The Tigers had 82 shots in a 21-7 win vs. C.W. Post on March 17, 1979.
