TOWSON, Md – The Towson University softball team played the third of a three-game series against Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) rival Charleston.
Kristin Toland hit her team-leading sixth homerun of the season, but the Cougars went on to win 8-2 to sweep the Tigers.

- Charleston's Ryley Cutter earned the win after pitching all 7.0 innings and giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.
- Cadence Williams receives the loss allowing two hits and four runs with three walks and three strikeouts over 3.0 innings.
How it happened:
- The Tigers struck in the top of the 1st for the second straight game as with one out Kristin Toland hit a solo-homerun over the centerfield wall to give Towson an early 1-0 lead.
- Cadence Williams only saw seven batters over the first two innings.
- Williams walked two of the first three batters she faced in the bottom of the 3rd. The sophomore induced a popout for the second out which brought up Austy Miller who hit a three-run homerun to give Charleston a 3-1 lead.
- Amanda Medina entered the game with a runner on first and no outs in the bottom of the 4th. A sacrifice bunt moved the runner over for Karly Smith who hit an RBI single to extend Charleston's lead to three. Another single brought up Sierra Paradis who hit the Cougars second three-run homerun of the game to make it 7-1 Cougars.
- Neither Medina nor Charleston's Ryley Cutter allowed a run in the 5th inning.
- Briyana Wright singled, and Isabella Canesi walked to lead off the 6th. A fielder's choice moved Wright to third for Alyssa Myint whose sacrifice fly made it 7-2.
- Faith McCullough entered from the bullpen in the bottom of the 6th and got two quick outs before allowing a two-out triple and single to give Charleston an 8-2 lead entering the 7th inning.
- Cutter retired Towson in order in the top of the 7th to seal an 8-2 win and a series sweep for the Cougars.

The Tigers stay on the road for a non-conference game at Georgetown on Tuesday, April 15, the game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
