TOWSON, Md – The Towson University softball team played the final of a three-game series against Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) rivals Monmouth. The Tigers fell behind in the 4
th inning and couldn't recover as Monmouth defeated Towson 4-2 to take the series.

Monmouth – 11-34, 7-14 CAA
Key Stats:
- Izzy Bonacci earned her second win and complete game of the series after allowing seven hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts over 7.0 innings of work.
- Olivia Trombley receives the loss after starting and pitching 3.1 innings allowing six hits and three runs with one walk and four strikeouts.
How it happened:
- Towson starter Olivia Trombley allowed a one-out single to Olivia Smith who stole second base. With two outs, Izzy Bonacci hit an RBI single to give the Hawks an early lead.
- Cara Bohner hit a one-out double in the bottom of the first and two batters later Grace Franczyk hit a two-out double to tie the game 1-1 after the 1st inning.
- Isabella Canesi led off the bottom of the 2nd with a single and stole second base. With two outs, Elizabeth Yoskowitz hit a groundball to the shortstop and beat the wayward throw allowing Canesi to score to give Towson a 2-1 lead.
- Trombley hit the first batter she faced in the top of the 3rd and the runner stole second base. With one out Clare Picone hit an RBI single to bring the game back level 2-2.
- Kristin Toland tripled with one out in the bottom of the third, but Madyson Peters lined out to end the inning.
- Monmouth loaded the bases with three singles and with only one out in the top of the 4th. Amanda Medina entered to pitch for Towson and hit Gianna Scotti allowing the go-ahead run to score making it 3-2. Medina worked out of the jam with a pair of force-outs to avoid any more damage.
- After a scoreless 5th inning, Medina got two quick outs in the top of the 6th before a single and a walk put two on for Smith who hit an RBI single to double the Hawk's lead.
- Franczyk's second double of the game and an error the next at-bat put two on with one out in the bottom of the 6th. But Bonacci got the next two batters out to end the inning.
- Briyana Wright hit a two-out single in the bottom of the 7th to bring the tying run to the plate, but Bohner flew out to seal a 4-2 win for Monmouth.
On Deck:
The Tigers play the final midweek game of the season on Tuesday when Towson visits Villanova. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
