TOWSON, Md – The Towson University softball team played the first of a three-game series against Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) rivals Drexel. The Tigers took a big early lead and held on to defeat the Dragons 14-8.

Key Stats:
- Towson starter Amanda Medina picked up her seventh win of the season after pitching 4.1 innings and allowing seven hits and five earned runs with three walks and a strikeout.
- Drexel's Violet Marta receives the loss after allowing five hits and five runs with two of them earned.
How it happened:
- The Tigers struck first in the 1st as singles from Briyana Wright and Kristin Toland put two on for Grace Franczyk who opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly. A pair of Drexel errors brought another run home before Alyssa Myint hit a two-run double to make it 4-0 Towson after one.
- Amanda Medina walked the leadoff batter in the top of the 2nd and after a single and fielder's choice put runners on the corners Ariana Castillo hit an RBI single to cut the Tiger's lead to 4-1.
- Cara Bohner hit a one-out double in the bottom of the 2nd and with two outs Franczyk hit another double for her second RBI of the game. The next batter Madyson Peters then hit a third double to score Franczyk and make it 6-1 Towson.
- Alyssa Myint walked, and Elizabeth Yoskowitz hit a bunt single putting two runners on and with one out Wright hit a three-run homerun to extend the lead to 9-1.
- Medina pitched her second straight scoreless inning in the 4th.
- Isabella Canesi and Myint hit a pair of singles to begin the home half of the 4th then Addie Ferguson pinch-hit and hit the Tigers second three-run homerun of the game making it 12-1.
- The Dragons led off the top of the 5th with four consecutive singles with Mia Garza and Devyn Demchak each batting in a run. A Towson fielding error allowed two more Dragons to cross home plate making it 12-5. Faith McCullough then entered to pitch and hit her first batter to reload the bases. A single, fielder's choice, and another single each scored one more run for Drexel capping off a seven-run inning from the Dragons.
- After both teams went down in order their next time up, Myint drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 6th and Anaya Troy's bunt single put two on. A sacrifice bunt moved the runners over for Cara Bohner who hit a sacrifice fly to make it 13-8. Kristin Toland then hit an RBI single to make it 14-8 entering the 7th inning.
- A leadoff single was McCullough's only blemish in the 7th inning as the Tigers earned a 14-8 win.
