TOWSON, Md – The Towson University softball team played the second of a three-game series against Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) rivals Drexel. With a crowd of alumnae in attendance the Tigers defeated the Dragons 8-0 in the 5
th inning behind a one-hit shutout from
Cadence Williams.

Towson – 22-26, 10-13 CAA
Drexel – 3-39, 3-20 CAA
Key Stats:
- Towson starter Cadence Williams earned the win after pitching all 5.0 innings only allowing one hit with no walks and two strikeouts.
- Williams allowing only one hit to the Dragons is the lowest number of hits Towson has allowed in a game this season.
- Drexel's Madison Taylor receives the loss after allowing nine hits and eight runs over 4.2 innings pitched.
How it happened:
- Kristin Toland's two-out single in the bottom of the 1st was the only baserunner allowed over the first two innings by Towson starter Cadence Williams and Drexel starter Madison Taylor.
- Williams continued to hold the Dragons hitless through the top of the 3rd.
- Elizabeth Yoskowitz led off the bottom of the 3rd with a bunt single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs Cara Bohner opened the scoring with an RBI double. The next batter Kristin Toland hit a single to score Bohner and make it 2-0 Towson after three innings.
- With one out in the top of the 4th the game was delayed due to inclement weather. Once the game resumed, Kylah Reading recorded the Dragons first hit of the game. Williams retired the next two batters to end the inning.
- Taylor only saw four batters in the bottom of the 4th and Williams sent Drexel down in order in the top of the 5th.
- Paige Kostick drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 5th and Bohner hit a one-out single to put two on for Toland who hit a two-run double to push the lead to 4-0. Grace Franczyk singled before Isabella Canesi hit a single of her own to score Toland. Alyssa Myint reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases for pinch hitter Mackenzie Gorczyca who cleared the bases with a triple to end the game in the 5th inning with an 8-0 Towson win.
