Towson Tennis Set for Three Matches This Week

Towson, Md. - The Towson University tennis team is set for a three-match week. On Wednesday, Towson is on the road for a CAA match against Hampton at 2PM. On Friday, the Tigers are back home to face off against Georgetown at 3PM. To conclude the week, Towson will contest its second CAA match against Drexel at 1PM at the Tiger Tennis Complex.

Last Match Recap
The Tigers secured a 4-3 CAA win against Hofstra last Saturday. The Pride secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, but Towson responded by winning four straight matches in singles play to clinch the win. Gaia Montecchi and Ashira Murray pulled out wins at No. 3 and No. 4 in three sets. Aubrey Carper and Sania Suchinsky secured two more wins at No. 5 and No. 6 for the Tigers.

Hampton Scouting Report
Hampton has accumulated a 7-7 record with a 1-1 mark in CAA conference play. The Pirates opened their season with a loss to UNCG but won their next match against Mount St. Mary's. Hampton was then edged by Longwood, but responded with three back-to-back wins against Norfolk State, Chowan and St. Thomas Aquinas. The Pirates dropped their next match to Bryant but picked up a win the same day in a doubleheader against Quinnipiac. Hampton lost its next three matchups to South Dakota, East Carolina and Norfolk State. The Pirates then bested Coppin State and N.C. A&T in their next two matchups. Most recently, Hamptons dropped 4-3 to Campbell.

Georgetown Scouting Report
Georgetown enters the competition with a 6-10 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play. The Hoyas opened the season with a 5-2 win over Howard but fell to DePaul in their next match. After a victory against Mount St. Mary's, they were swept by Army, 4-0. Georgetown bounced back with wins over Marquette and Providence before narrowly losing to Connecticut, 4-3. They responded with a win against Seton Hall but then suffered back-to-back losses to Long Beach State and Navy. A close 4-3 win over St. Bonaventure followed, but the Hoyas are currently on a five-match losing streak, with recent defeats against Delaware, Xavier, Butler, Richmond and St. John's.

Drexel Scouting Report
The Dragons currently sit at a 5-7 record and a 0-3 mark in CAA conference play. Drexel opened its spring season with a pair of wins against FDU and Sienna College but fell to Syracuse in the team's next match. The Dragons picked up another set of wins against Delaware State Villanova. Drexel lost its next five matchups to Stony Brook, Temple, William & Mary, College of Charleston and UNCW. They responded with a win over St. Joseph's but then suffered a loss to St. Joseph's. Drexel will face Delaware on Friday before taking on the Tigers on Saturday.

Next Match
The Tigers conclude their spring season with a matchup against George Mason on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 3PM. The match will be contested in Fairfax, Va.
