HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Towson University baseball team faced Hofstra in the final game of a three-game Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) series on Sunday afternoon at University Field in Hempstead, N.Y.
Towson (19-34, 9-15 CAA) scored two runs in the top of the first inning for an early lead before Hofstra (17-34, 7-17 CAA) cut it down to one in the bottom half. After three scoreless innings, the Pride tied the game at two in the bottom of the fifth. Brown's timely hit in the eighth with two runners in scoring position gave Hofstra a 4-2 lead. The Tigers scored one run before leaving the tying run stranded at third to fall 4-3.

- Towson reliever Brett Seils (1-3) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on four hits in 1.0 inning pitched. Seils struck out one.
- Hofstra starter Jackson Bauer (4-6) earned the win, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits in 8.1 innings pitched. Bauer struck out seven and walked two. Hofstra reliever Danny Kelleher picked up the save while recording the final two outs of the game.
How it Happened
- Jordan Peyton started the first inning with a single through the left side. Three batters later, Brett Ahalt was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base. Max D'Alessandro followed that with a single to right center, scoring Peyton on the play. With runners on the corners, a double steal plated Ahalt to extend Towson's lead to 2-0.
- In the home half, back-to-back doubles from Brown and Masiuk cut the Tigers' lead to one after one inning of play.
- The teams had a combined two base runners over the next three scoreless innings.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Jenks led off with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. Jenks scored on Gallelo's groundout to third to tie the game at two.
- The Pride added two runs on three hits in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-2 lead.
- With runners on second and third in the ninth, Janove's sacrifice fly cut the deficit to one with two outs. An unassisted groundout to first base ended the game 4-3 in favor of the Pride.
