TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team played Stony Brook in the final game of a three-game series on Sunday afternoon at John B. Schuerholz Park.
Towson (18-30, 9-12 CAA) built an early lead for the third-straight day vs. Stony Brook (22-23, 8-13 CAA) scoring one in the first and six in the second to make it 7-0. The Seawolves added three runs on three hits in the fifth before the Tigers got two runs back in the home half. Stony Brook scored one run in the top of the sixth to make it a 9-4 TU lead.
Kyle Emmons took the mound in the eighth and retired six of seven batters faced to secure the series sweep. It marks the Tigers first three-game series sweep in CAA play since 2016. The Tigers' current five-game hitting streak is the longest since 2017.

- Towson reliever Kyle Emmons (2-2) earned the win in relief, allowing one hit over the final two scoreless frames of the game. Towson starter Dutch DeProspero finished one out shy of qualifying for the win.
- Stony Brook starter Ty Panariello (4-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs, two earned, on seven hits and a walk in 1.2 innings pitched.
How it Happened
- In the bottom of the first, Nich Francuzenko hit a one-hit single and scored two batters later on Brett Ahalt's double to right field.
- Towson added six runs on five hits and an error in the next inning. Brady Nathison started the inning with a lead off home run to left field. A double steal with runners on the corners scored Ben Nugent later in the frame. After Francuzenko's ensuing walk, Brian Heckelman plated Jordan Peyton on a single to right field. Moments later, Brett Ahalt's triple in the right center field gap scored two more runs. Max D'Alessandro plated Ahalt with a single up the middle to make it a 7-0 game.
- After two scoreless innings, Stony Brook added three runs on three hits in the fifth by way of two home runs.
- The Tigers tacked on two runs in the home half, the first on Nugent's RBI ground out and the second on Casey Bishop's double in the left center gap.
- The Seawolves added a run in the next frame to make it a 9-4 Towson lead.
- After a scoreless seventh, Kyle Emmons entered the game and allowed just one hit to secure the Tigers' 9-4 win.
Inside the Numbers
- Brett Ahalt is now on a five-game hitting streak, the longest active streak for the Tigers. He picked up his 11th multi-hit game, putting him third on the team in the category. The center fielder also recorded his first three-RBI game of the season, giving him four multi-RBI games on the year now.
- Towson earned its first series sweep since taking three games vs. Wagner from March 3-5, 2017. It marks the first CAA series sweep since taking three games vs. James Madison from April 8-10, 2016.
- The Tigers are now on a five-game winning streak, their first since Feb. 25 – March 5, 2017. During that streak, the Tigers won the final two games vs. California State University, Northridge and completed the series sweep vs. Wagner to follow.
