Baseball Falls to Virginia in Final Mid-Week Contest of 2025

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Towson University baseball team faced Virginia on Wednesday evening at Disharoon Park in the team's final mid-week contest of the 2025 season

Towson (19-31, 9-12 CAA) got on the board in the first inning by way of Taye Robinson's RBI knock but were overpowered by the Virginia (27-16, 11-10 ACC) offense, which scored 19 runs over the final eight innings to pick up the win.

Key Stats
  • Towson starter Jace Cunnane (0-3) took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits and two walks in 3.0 innings pitched.
  • Virginia reliever Evan Blanco (3-4) earned the win, tossing 3.0 one-hit, scoreless frames. Blanco struck out four batters.

How it Happened

Later in the frame with a runner on third, Hanson's bunt single gave UVA a one-run lead. Teel knocked in Hanson on the following at-bat to make it 3-1.
  • In the bottom of the third, Godbout and Ference hit back-to-back home runs to extend the Cavaliers' lead to 5-1.
  • An error for the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth pushed UVA's lead to five.
  • Nunnallee picked up an RBI in the home half of the fifth on a single through the right side of the infield.
  • Virginia added four runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth, giving the Cavaliers an 11-1 lead.
