Olivia Thunnissen Named CAA Rookie of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University field hockey's Olivia Thunnissen has been named Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week, the CAA announced Monday. This is the first weekly honor of Thunnissen's career and the third of the season for the Tigers.

Olivia Thunnissen capped off her freshman season making her sixteenth and seventeenth starts of the season against Hofstra and Delaware. In Towson's 5-2 win over the Pride on Friday, Thunnissen scored a pair of goals for her first career multi-goal game. Thunnissen created her first goal herself, taking the ball from midfield all the way to the circle before her pass was deflected back to her allowing the freshman to shoot into the bottom corner. The Apeldoorn, Netherlands native scored her second after delivering a penalty corner and seeing the ensuing shot deflect her way allowing her to knock home Towson's fifth goal of the game.

Thunnissen's four points against Hofstra brought her to ten on the season, making her the first Tiger rookie to score double digit points since Anouk Westerink in 2024. Thunnissen tallied two goals and two assists over Towson's final five games of the season.
