Towson Men's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.Dylan Williamson tied his career high for points on the road and became the third player in Towson history to make 200 three pointers in his career but it wasn't enough in a nail-biting one-point loss for the Towson Tigers (14-13, 6-8 CAA) against the Monmouth Hawks (14-12, 8-5 CAA).

  • Williamson played every minute and led the team with 27 points.
  • Jack Doumbia Jr. came off the bench and scored 11 points.
  • Tyler Tejada scored 16 points and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the line for the second consecutive game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Williamson was only one three pointer away from 200 in his career and drilled the milestone shot on the first possession.
  • Williamson kept his hot hand to start, scoring 10 of the team's first 16 points, giving Towson an early 10-point lead.
  • The Hawks clawed back immediately with a 12-3 run before the rest of the half was played evenly with Monmouth taking a two-point lead into the locker room.
  • Towson immediately took the lead back with a Ryan Conway bucket from deep followed by a Caleb Embeya layup.
  • Towson maintained the lead for much of the second half, extending it to as much as seven with 8:21 left and six with 4:24 left.
  • Tejada put away two more free throws just under the two minute mark to put Towson up 69-64.
  • Monmouth closed the gap with a 5-0 run to bring the score even at 69 with under a minute left.
  • Doumbia Jr. took the lead back for Towson but Monmouth answered a game winning three.
