Towson Women’s Lacrosse Drops to No.18/15 Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. - The Towson University women's lacrosse team completed its trip out west to Colorado. The Tigers (1-4, 0-0 CAA) fell to the No. 17/22 Buffaloes (4-0, 0-0 Big 12) 17-5.

  • Jenna Cardeno tallied 11 saves against the Buffs, allowing the sophomore to surpass 200 career saves. 
  • Colorado won the draw control game, 17-6. 
  • Towson took the edge in ground balls, 15-13.

  • Colorado opened the quarter with a goal before Katie Roszko answered to even the score.  
  • The Buffaloes responded with three straight goals to take a 4-1 advantage.  
  • Gabby Bjugan found the back of the net late in the first quarter to trim Towson's deficit to two.  
  • Colorado began the second quarter with two quick goals to extend its lead to 6-2.  
  • Elise Smigiel netted her first goal of the afternoon to bring the Tigers within three. 
  • The Buffaloes closed out the half on a six-goal run to take a 9-3 lead into the break. 
  • Colorado added five goals in the third quarter to extend its lead to 14-3. 
  • The Buffaloes carried their momentum into the fourth, scoring twice more to push the advantage to 16. 
  • Freshman Annie Minoglio recorded her first career goal on a free position attempt, snapping Colorado's scoring run and bringing Towson to four. 
  • The Buffaloes answered with a free position goal of their own to make it 17-4. 
  • Hannah Lewis netted her second goal of the day late in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers fell to Colorado, 17-5.

The Tigers take a week off from competition before resuming play on Wednesday, March 4 against Temple. The game will be contested at Tiger Field and will be streamed on FloCollege.
