TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team faced Merrimack on day two of the DeMarini Tiger Clash on Saturday.
Kaci Benton's fifth homerun of the year helped boost Towson to a 4-2 win over the Warriors to bring the Tiger's record over .500.

- Kaci Benton hit her fifth homer of the season to tie Addie Ferguson for the team lead.
- Alyssa Myint has multiple hits and an RBI.
- Olivia Trombley earns her fourth win of the season after starting and pitching 5.0 innings and allowing two hits and two runs (one earned) with six strikeouts.
- Mikaela Guy earned her second save of the season pitching the final 2.0 innings and allowing two hits and no runs with three strikeouts.
- Brandi Neil receives the loss after pitching 2.0 innings and allowing five hits and three runs.
How it Happened:
- A walk and a single put two runners on for Towson in the bottom of the 1st and a Mackenzie Gorczyca double and Taylor Broadbent groundout gave the Tigers an early 2-0 lead.
- Olivia Trombley faced the minimum through 2.0 innings.
- After Merrimack got a run back in the 3rd, Kaci Benton led off the home half with a solo homerun to restore Towson's two-run lead.
- The Warriors made it a one-run game in the 5th, Mikaela Guy came into pitch in the 6th and kept Towson ahead.
- A walk and an Isabella Canesi double, concluding a 13-pitch at-bat, brought up Alyssa Myint who singled to bring home a key insurance run.
- Guy shut the door in the top of the 7th to secure her second save of the season and a 4-2 Towson win.
The Tigers will play one more game in the DeMarini Tiger Clash tomorrow. Following a Cornell and Merrimack double-header the Tigers will take on Morgan State at 3 p.m.
