EMMITSBURG, Md. - The Towson University women's lacrosse team traveled northwest on Friday to take on Mount St. Mary's. The Tigers (1-0) defeated the Mountaineers (0-1) 14-11 in an exciting, faced-paced contest.

- Mount St. Mary's regained the lead late in the quarter as Maddie Malfa converted on another free-position attempt, giving the Mountaineers a 2-1 advantage after one.
- Four minutes into the second quarter, Katie Roszko netted a goal for Towson to tie the game once again. The Mount responded with a score from Ava Kraszewski, but senior Ocea Leavy countered less than a minute later with her first goal of the day, sparking a 3-0 run for the Tigers.
- Lewis closed the first half with back-to-back goals, including one assisted by Hailey Waldron. The Mountaineers added a late goal from Morgan Baird, assisted by MK Allingham, to head into halftime trailing by one.
- Molchanoff and Hailey Chester opened the second half with back-to-back goals to give Mount St. Mary's a one-goal lead. Towson responded with a four-goal run, as Roszko, Luca DeMaio, Lewis and Valerie Thompson all found the back of the net to put the Tigers ahead 9-6.
- Kraszewski and Haylee Bittinger (assisted by Molchanoff) answered with two goals to cut the deficit to one. Leavy closed the third quarter with a goal to push Towson into double figures, sending the Tigers into the final period up 10-8.
- Leavy continued her strong day by opening the fourth quarter with two goals, giving her a career-high four on the afternoon and extending Towson's lead to 12-8. Kraszewski and Molchanoff each completed hat tricks with back-to-back goals to pull the Mountaineers within two.
- Towson sealed the win with a late two-goal run, as Roszko and DeMaio each scored their second goals of the day to make it a four-goal game with 1:49 remaining. Mount St. Mary's added a final goal from Chester, but Towson held on for the 14-11 victory.
