TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team played the rubber match of its first CAA series of the season against Drexel on Sunday. The Tiger bats came to life in the 5
th and 6
th innings as a three-run homerun from
Isabella Canesi secured a six-inning 12-3 win as the Tigers took the series over the Dragons

- Ten Tigers recorded hits in the game and seven recorded RBIs
- Mackenzie Gorczyca had a three-hit day.
- Alyssa Myint finished the game with two hits and two RBIs.
- Grace Franczyk and Briyana Wright each had two hits and an RBI.
- Isabella Canesi hit a three-run homerun to end the game in the 6th.
- Olivia Trombley got the start and the win for Towson after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing five hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts.
- Courtney Kols receives the loss after starting and allowing nine hits and seven earned runs over 2.0 innings.
How it Happened:
- The Tigers struck first in the 1st as Kaci Benton doubled with one out and Addie Ferguson singled her home to open the scoring. The next batter Grace Franczyk hit a double of her own to. Ake it 2-0 Towson after an inning.
- After Trombley's second scoreless inning, the pitcher walked to lead off the bottom of the 2nd. A hit, hit batter and error allowed Trombley to come around to score Towson's third run.
- A one out walk and an error got a run back for Drexel in the top of the third before a two-run homerun from Kelsie Peters tied the game at three.
- Leading off the home-half of the 3rd, Mackenzie Gorczyca tripled to right field and an error made it a little league homerun as the sophomore scored the go ahead run.
- Trombley bounced back by throwing scoreless 4th and 5th innings.
- Two singles and a passed ball put runners on second and third with no outs for Towson in the bottom of the 5th. Briyana Wright singled and pinch hitter Jada Wade doubled to each bring home a run making it 6-3. The next batter Alyssa Myint hit a two-run single before an error allowed the fifth run of the inning to score making it 9-3 Tigers after five.
- After Mikaela Guy pitched a scoreless top of the 6th out of the bullpen, a hit batter and Gorczyca's third hit of the day put two runners on. With two outs Isabella Canesi hit a three-run homerun to seal a 12-3 Tiger win in six innings.
